This course provides students with knowledge of health promotion and related strategies as an integral component of health care delivery. It examines the impact of physical, psychosocial, environmental and lifestyle factors that influence health, explores Primary Health Care as the approach, and utilizes the assessment component of the Nursing process, and Communication skills in providing care for individuals, families, and communities. The course also provides students with the basic health promotion skills by linking theory to practice using a case study approach. The course will address the competencies of Knowledge, Effective Communication, Analytical Ability, Technical Expertise, Collaboration, Professionalism, Diversity and Social and Global Responsibility.
